Our February Scribd Authors Series event is finally here! This evening, Sharon Salzberg, author of Real Happiness at Work, will be giving a short talk and leading a meditation session at Scribd headquarters in SF. Sharon is the cofounder of Insight Meditation Society in Massachusetts, ranked among the most prominent meditation centers in the Western world.
We’re incredibly excited to have Sharon come to Scribd, and invite all members of the Scribd community as well as Sharon’s fans to join us. The event starts at 5pm sharp, and includes some snacks, copies of her new book, and your chance to get 2 months of Scribd reading free. You can still RSVP here.
In honor of Sharon’s visit to Scribd, we’ve added a collection of inspiring books about self-empowerment called “Achieve Real Happiness.” The collection was curated by the bloggers participating in Sharon Salzberg’s “Real Happiness 28-Day Meditation Challenge.”
No Sharon Salzberg inspired collection would be complete without her own cornerstone work. This book will walk you through daily meditations and exercises that are easy to fit into everyday life and will ultimately make you more centered.
In this extraordinary book, world-famous spiritual leader Eckhart Tolle will guide you through a journey into the now. Though the journey is challenging, Tolle uses simple languages and includes a question-and-answer guide to make the book more manageable.
In this astounding autobiographical manifest, Brad Warner mixes a pungent bit of “punk” truth into his explanation of Zen. His shocking stories and mixing of Zen and punk ethos make this book a must-read for anyone who is normally thrown off by the austerity of traditional Buddhism.
If you’ve already read these books, there are several more impressive reads in the collection. We hope to see you tonight at our Sharon Salzberg Scribd Author Series event!
